Am Araucana

Where's the ham?

These are the eggs Bonnie and I bought at the farmer's market yesterday. They were delish. The shell seems thicker and the yolks much yellower.
I'm the decider and I decided they were yellower. And the flavor was more "more" like.
The two white eggs in the background are the traditional organic eggs we normally get from Berkeley Bowl. And by "we" I mean Bonnie. I can't go into Berkeley Bowl--too many damn hippies grazing on nuts and berries.

Our cat means you harm

I'm not kidding. Watch out weirdos.

My third Time Magazine cover

So, okay, two of the times the pictures were the size on my unpedicured toenail, but still....

The photograph Time chose is of Omid Kordestani, who I photographed for Google. Google is an internets search engine.

Whatever that is.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOON

One of my sweetest three little sisters—June!

Happy Birthday June. You don't look a day over six.

Love,

Bart

happy birthday, Tiff

Can you believe I've known you for 14 years. Ever since I photographed you for that Time Magazine article on psychotic implants.

When will you visit again?

Jon Gipe's Art

Long before Jon Gipe and I became friends, I used to admire his photographs in the New Times Weekly. Every week. He is an award winning photo journalist and a top advertising photographer. He's just put up a website of some of his art work at: jongipesart.com. (you can also see his main website at: jongipe.com.)
This website, put together by his son Jerome is also a very lovely simulation of a slide show with dimming lights, a clicker and even slide projector fan noise (there's an easter egg, too--find it if you can).

Beautiful archival prints are available for purchase on his site–-check it out (Bonnie and I have a few ourselves--and that's a testimonial)

Steve Greenwall Cucoloris

We had a dinner party last weekend and as we have been doing of late, invited our guests back into the studio for some photoplay. I'd been wanting to try out my new green painted wall and our pal Steve made a great subject with his chiseled features and fab hair. The background was lit through a cucoloris on the floor and Steve was lit with one large softbox with a 20˚grid as the key and a small softbox for fill.

This is a cucoloris, or "cookie" as the key grip would call it. The best boy would call it that, too--so would Brittany, but then she'd start giggling.

Ok, class is over, you may debart for your next blog. See you on the flip.

Bye now.

There is a God

and probably a Christian God.

At least at the VA Hospital in Palo Alto, where I spotted this apparition.

Of Dogs and Men

Our friends, Shev and Kevin with their doggy Loretta stopped by on their way from L.A. to Sea Ranch. After a wine-fueled photo session we wandered over to the Townhouse for a delicious dinner on their outside deck. After a wine-fueled dinner we wandered home and chased away the crack-smoking wheelchairman who occasionally calls our doorstep his neighborhood hangout. He wasn't actually smoking crack.
That time.
